Upcoming Quarterly Meetings
We’re excited to announce our upcoming quarterly meeting dates! Mark your calendars and join us as we come together to discuss important neighborhood issues and opportunities for involvement.

Meetings will take place from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Members are welcome to arrive as early as 6:30pm to chat and connect with one another.

We will provide updates for our meeting topics as we get closer to each date.

• Thursday, March 20, 2025

  • Theme: Envisioning the Future of SWONA – Strengthening Our Neighborhood Through Connection

    Join us for our next SWONA Quarterly Meeting as we come together to discuss the future of our neighborhood, build stronger connections, and explore opportunities to support one another. A key part of this vision is the launch of the SWONA Neighbor Network Facebook group, a new online space for neighbors to share resources, offer and receive help, and foster a sense of community.

    We’ll also be diving into important topics that impact our neighborhood:

    • CERT Program & Emergency Preparedness: A discussion on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, including details on the upcoming Thurston County CERT training in April and how neighbors can participate to improve emergency preparedness.

    • CNA Updates: Vice President, Stuart Olshevski, will provide a summary of activities from the Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (CNA) meetings.

    • Gleaning Project Logistics & Planning: Treasurer, Grace Fletcher, will lead a discussion on the next steps for implementing the neighborhood gleaning project, including logistics and volunteer coordination to reduce food waste and support food security.

    • City Neighborhood Match Grant Application & Commmunity Garden Initiative: We have applied for a city match grant to help fund our summer picnic, outreach efforts to raise awareness of SWONA and its initaitives (such as the gleaning project), as a new effort to install garden beds on volunteer properties to supplement our gleaning project's goal of reducing good insecurity in our neighborhood. We will discuss potential next steps if the grant is approved, including guaging interest from neighbors insterest in having a garden box installed on their property and forming a community group to help manage this inaitive alongside the gleaning project.

    • Summer Neighborhood Garage Sale Logistics & Planning: Planning for a neighborhood-wide garage sale on June 21st and 22nd. Discussion will include marketing, logistics, and coordination among neighbors.

    • Election of an Outreach Coordinator: We are still looking for an Outreach Coordinator to lead efforts in increasing SWONA participation, promoting events and initiatives, and enhancing community engagement and communication. If you're interested, we encourage you to attend the meeting or reach out to us in advance.
